Turmeric prices registered a slight decline in the private and regulated markets. Trade sources said 4500 bags each containing 75 kg of Turmeric arrived for sale today.
Finger variety turmeric fetched Rs 14,700 to Rs 14,800 per quintal. Similarly, the Root variety fetched Rs 14500 to Rs 14700 per quintal. This is about Rs 200 per quintal less than Tuesday’s price. A total of 2,500 bags were sold.
In the regulated market also there was a slight decrease of Rs 70 per quintal of turmeric. Some 769 bags of turmeric arrived in the regulated market and 740 bags were sold at Rs 14,769 to Rs 15,289 per quintal of Finger variety.
Root variety fetched Rs 14,667 to Rs 15,036 per quintal, sources said, adding, most products were purchased by traders in bulk for up-country export and also to Bangaladesh.
