The BSE, Small-cap index outperformed the broader indices on the first trading day of the new financial year by appreciating 2.5% as compared to 1% rise in the Sensex and Mid-cap index. Twenty-two stocks from the Small-cap index had closed upper limit of circuit filter.

The non-A group stocks were on a roll with as many as 300 companies closing at upper level of circuit filters on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

The stocks traded under non-A group hitting upper circuit limit indicates the return of retail investors, say market analysts. As many as 157 stocks from B group, 110 from S group, 19 from S group, 12 from TS group and Coral News and MH Mills from the Z group frozen upper limit of circuit filter.

Out of the 300 stocks that closed at its higher level circuit, as many as 14 were frozen at 20%, 67 at 10% and the remaining 219 at 5% circuit filter on the BSE.
