Sugar firms up on festive demand
Sugar prices firmed up at the Vashi wholesale market here today on the back of better retail and bulk consumer demand ahead of the festival season.
Medium sugar quality (M-30) rose by Rs 10/40 per quintal to Rs 2,670/2,770 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 2,630/2,760.
Small sugar quality (S-30) also gained by Rs 10/15 per quintal to Rs 2,610/2,685, as against Rs 2,595/2,675 of last weekend.
Following are today's closing rates per quintal, with previous rates in brackets:
Small sugar (S-30) quality Rs 2,610/2,685 (Rs 2,595/ 2,675) and Medium sugar (M-30) quality Rs 2,670/2,770 (Rs 2,630/2,760).
