Sugar prices rose moderately at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to higher offtake from retailers amid lower arrivals from mills.
Small sugar quality (S-30) moved up by Rs 3/10 per quintal to Rs 2,696/2,746 from last weekend's closing level of Rs 2,693/2,736.
Medium sugar quality (M-30) also edged up by Rs 1/10 per quintal to Rs 2,731/2,811, as against Rs 2,730/2,801 of last Saturday.
The following are today's closing rates per quintal, with the previous rates in brackets:
Small sugar (S-30) quality Rs 2,696/2,746 (Rs 2,693/ 2,736) and medium sugar (M-30) quality Rs 2,731/2,811 (Rs 2,730/2,801)
