Sugar remains higher on increased offtake

Sugar prices strengthened upto Rs 75 per quintal in the national capital today on increased buying by stockists. Marketmen said pick up in buying activity by stockists at prevailing levels, influenced sugar prices at the wholesale market here.

They said increased demand from soft drinks and ice cream makers too supported the upside in prices. Sugar medium and second grade prices strengthened to Rs 2,770-2,850 and Rs 2,760-2,840, against last close of Rs 2,750-2,800 and Rs 2,740-2,790 per quintal.

Similarly, mill delivery medium and second grades prices rose by Rs 75 to Rs 2,600-2,700 and Rs 2,590-2,690 per quintal.

Sugar ready M-30 2,770-2,850 and S-30 2,760-2,840
Mill delivery M-30 2,600-2,700 and S-30 2,590-2690
Sugar mill gate prices (excluding duty): Kinonni 2,700, Asmoli 2,690, Mawana 2,630, Titabi 2,620, Thanabhavan 2,610, Budhana 2,600 and Dorala 2,610
