Top-6 blue-chips add Rs 38,362 cr in m-cap

Buoyed by a smart uptick in the market value of TCS, the combined market capitalisation of top-six Sensex companies rose by Rs 38,362 crore last week.

While TCS, ITC, ONGC, CIL, Bharti Airtel and Sun Pharma saw rise in their market capitalisation (m-cap), RIL, Infosys, HDFC Bank and Wipro suffered a cumulative erosion of Rs 4,474 crore.

TCS' m-cap soared Rs 11,713 crore to Rs 4,46,942 crore, becoming the top gainer among top-10 blue-chip firms.

The market value of Coal India shot-up by Rs 6,916 crore to Rs 1,82,353 crore, while ONGC added Rs 6,844 crore to Rs 2,42,804 crore in its valuation.

Sun Pharma's m-cap climbed Rs 6,158 crore to Rs 1,26,275 crore, while that of ITC gained Rs 6,031 crore to Rs 2,55,880 crore.

Similarly, Bharti Airtel saw its value rise by Rs 700 crore to Rs 1,32,154 crore.

In contrast, RIL's value dipped by Rs 2,595 crore to Rs 2,76,907 crore, while Infosys lost Rs 951 crore to Rs 2,03,790 crore.

The m-cap of Wipro slipped Rs 641 crore to Rs 1,36,725 crore, while HDFC Bank's value fell by Rs 287 crore to Rs 1,58,558 crore.

The list of top-10 companies as of last week was: TCS, RIL, ITC, ONGC, Infosys, CIL, HDFC Bank, Wipro, Bharti and Sun Pharma.

The benchmark Sensex extended its losses for the second consecutive week, shedding 93 points to end at 20,758.49 on Friday.
