Upmove continues; Grasim surges 10%

The Sensex continues to extend gains and is now up 379 points at 9,541. Earlier in the day, the index opened with a positive gap of 153 points at 9,316, and then swung in a narrow range of 83-odd points for most of the morning session - a high of 9,363, and a low of 9,280.

DLF has zoomed over 12% to Rs 248. Grasim has soared 10% to Rs 1,064.

Sterlite has surged nearly 8% to Rs 270. Tata Steel and Reliance Communications have rallied around 7.5% each to Rs 211 and Rs 222, respectively.

Reliance has gained 6.3% at Rs 1,191. Wipro, Jaiprakash Associates and Hindalco have moved up nearly 6% each to Rs 253, Rs 73 and Rs 54, respectively.

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,272 stocks traded so far, 1,371 have advanced, 802 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
