Upmove continues, Sensex up 198pts

The Sensex has extended gains and surged to a high of 13,935, up 198 points.

ICICI Bank has surged 5% to Rs 704. Reliance and Larsen & Toubro have rallied 3.5% each to Rs 2,196 and Rs 1,286, respectively.

BHEL has gained 2% at Rs 2,010. HDFC, NTPC, Bharti Airtel and HDFC Bank have advanced 1-2% each.

Meanwhile, ONGC and Tata Motors have shed 4% each at Rs 1,033 and Rs 344, respectively. Mahindra & Mahindra and Sterlite have dropped 3.5% each to Rs 629 and Rs 512, respectively.

ACC, DLF, Grasim, Wipro, Hindalco, TCS, Ranbaxy, Reliance Communications, Tata Power, Jaiprakash Associates and Tata Steel have declined 1-3% each.

The market breadth continues to be positive. Out of 2,717 stocks traded, 72% have advanced while 26% have declined.
