US markets rally; Dow crosses 9K-mark

US markets surged on Thursday as the Dow crossed the 9,000-mark after over six months.

Microsoft's dissapointing quarterly result, however, dragged the index off the day's high in late trades. The Dow ended at 9,069 - up 188 points (2%). The Nasdaq added 47 points (2.5%) to 1,974.

Indian ADRs were up. Satyam led the rally at $5 - up 11.5%.

Sterlite surged 7% to $13.11. ICICI Bank and MTNL gained 4.5% each to $33.32 and $4.21, respectively.

Infosys, Genpact and Dr Reddy's edged up 4% each to $42.23, $12.89 and $16.3, respectively. Tata Motors added 3.5% to $9.48.

Tata Communications, Wipro and HDFC Bank also moved up.
