Weakness continues, Sensex down 565pts

The Sensex is now down 565 points at 9,971.

Hindalco and Sterlite have slumped around 8% each to Rs 61 and Rs 257, respectively. Tata Steel and Jaiprakash Associates have plunged nearly 8% each to Rs 198 and Rs 89, respectively.

Satyam and BHEL have shed 7.5% each at Rs 275 and Rs 1,401, respectively.

Tata Motors, DLF and Reliance have slipped around 6.5% each to Rs 159, Rs 279 and Rs 1,220, respectively.

ONGC has dropped 5.7% to Rs 760. NTPC, Bharti Airtel and HDFC have slipped around 5.5% each to Rs 153, Rs 671 and Rs 1,680, respectively.

ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank are down over 1% each at Rs 447 and Rs 1,039, respectively.

Out of 2,494 stocks traded so far, 1,660 have declined, 762 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
