The Sensex is now down 94 points at 9,593. The NSE Nifty is down 32 points at 2,936.
Satyam Computer has slumped nearly 10% to Rs 126. Tata Motors has plunged 6% to Rs 164. Tata Steel has declined over 3% to Rs 215.
TCS, DLF and Jaiprakash Associates have slipped 2.9% each at Rs 486, Rs 293 and Rs 76, respectively.
ITC has shed 2.8% to Rs 173. Reliance Communication and Reliance Infrastructure have dropped over 2.5% each to Rs 211 and RS 574, respectively.
On the other side, Wipro has gained 3.3% to Rs 251. ICICI Bank has moved up 1.7% to Rs 434.
State Bank of India is up 1.3% at Rs 1,280. BHEL has advanced 1.1% to Rs 1,380.
The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,234 stocks traded so far, 1,430 have declined, 728 have advanced and 76 are unchanged.
