The BSE IT index touched a high of 2,846 and finally ended with a gain of 5% at 2,846.
Wipro zoomed 7% to Rs 375. Financial Technologies and Infosys advanced 5.5% each to Rs 759 and Rs 1,598, respectively.
MphasiS gained 5% at Rs 249. TCS, Moser Baer, Rolta and Oracle added 3% each.

The BSE IT index touched a high of 2,773, and is now up 2.3% at 2,758.
In the last two days, weakness in IT stocks saw the index decline over 3% from 7th May's closing of 2,785 to 2,696, on 11th May.
Infosys and Wipro have gained 3% each at Rs 1,560 and Rs 359, respectively.
Mphasis has advanced around 3.5% to Rs 245. Oracle and HCL have added over 1.5% each to Rs 860 and Rs 143, respectively.
Patni Computers has slipped 3% to Rs 160. Aptech is down 1% at Rs 111.
