Fiat and Volkswagen are two brands that are working towards introduction hot hatchbacks in India. The Abarth Punto and the Volkswagen Polo GTi are the two upcoming hot hatchbacks in India. With this we can expect other automakers to also chip in some products in the near future, there is Nissan, Skoda, Ford and Tata Motors too is working on a younger brand of performance hatchbacks.
Ford has the Fiesta ST, which is a hot hatchback with a 1.6-litre EcoBoost engine. However, when we spoke to Ford India about this, we were kind of disappointed.
We had a word with Nigel Harris, President Ford India who mentioned, We love the Fiesta ST, but we have no plans of getting anything at the moment to India. We will want to get it but at the moment no plans."
With Fiesta being one of our favourite sedans, the Fiesta ST could have been a good hatchback for India. Maybe a bit too early, but certainly it could be a good option for India in the near future.
