This is the same Jetta with some upgrades like new headlamps with LEDs on the top variant and minor tweaking in styling to the rear and the interior. Apart from that, new colours are being offered on the Jetta. There is no 1.8-litre turbo petrol engine being offered, which is a bit disappointing as the Octavia gets this option.
The 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine produces 121bhp of power and 200Nm of maximum torque with a six-speed manual transmission, this is the smallest petrol engine in its segment, and only Octavia offers this size engine, however the Octavia also gives an option of 1.8-litre 180bhp petrol engine. The 2.0-litre diesel engine is the same as it produces 138bhp of power and 320Nm of maximum torque.
The Volkswagen Jetta competes with the Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla and the Hyundai Elantra. The Toyota Corolla is the segment leader and offers maximum bells and whistles in this segment. However, the diesel engine offered on the Corolla Altis is less powerful than the Jetta. The Corolla Atlis diesel is the cheapest, while Jetta and Octavia are priced on the higher side. Volkswagen will be introducing a new model year for the Vento this year, and it is likely to get minor cosmetic upgrades too.
