At least 10 people were killed and many others injured after twin explosions rocked the Somali capital of Mogadishu on Wednesday.

Terror group Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the blasts in Somalia.

CNN quoted Somali Police Major Ahmed Ibrahim as saying that a truck bomb was detonated by the attackers outside the gates of the Dayah Hotel which is near the country's parliament building.

Few minutes later a second truck exploded nearby.

Somali security forces killed five attackers, who were involved in the blast.

According to Ali Hajji, head nurse at the nearby Hayad hospital, the death toll is likely to rise as there are many people with serious injuries.

Al-Shabaab is an al Qaeda-linked terror group that seeks to turn the country into a fundamentalist Islamic state and has carried out repeated attacks against the government and military targets.

Al-Shabaab is a terrorist group based in East Africa that pledged its allegiance with the Al-Qaeda.
