Fifty-nine commandos belonging to the Combat Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) deserted the paramilitary force today.
"59 CRPF trainees of 205 CoBRA Battalion going to Gaya for deployment went missing from Jammu-Sealdah Express sans informing earlier today," said source.
The aforementioned officers had recently concluded training at the Regional Training Centre in Srinagar.
They were being deployed to Gaya via Jammu-Sealdah Express (13152) from Jammu Railway Station to Gaya Junction.
"As per CRPF, the maximum punishment give to such trainees is deduction of one month salary," said source.
The CoBRA Battalion is a special action force of the CRPF. It was established as an anti-Naxal unit in 2008.
