Universal Business School (UBS), Karjat has announced its euphoric association with Light of Life Trust (LOLT) for social project with a prima facie objective of sustainable development.
The association is an outcome of the generous efforts of Vice Chairman of UBS, Tarun Anand, who is leaving no stone unturned for the all-round development of the future leaders.
Universal Business School has complied to the Mantra of 3Es, which is Ethics, Environment and Experiential learning; that has paved way for working towards the environment and the external stakeholders by way of experiential learning.
LOLT, one of the reputed NGOs, works towards the holistic development of rural community not just within the gamut of Karjat; but has its wings spread across Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and other states.
They work in the areas of education, health, environment, and livelihood. UBS has joined hands with LOLT for transforming lives of the rural community across these areas wherein; 100 post-graduate students have done their social project for 12 days.
Aligned with the UBS' philosophy of a green environment, our students have planted multiple saplings in the remote areas in different villages around the vicinity of 50 kms from Karjat.
Students at UBS along with LOLT coordinators spearheaded a number of dental camps, conducting role plays for family planning, and many more under the scope of health activities. The students have conducted close to 25 TB Awareness and Dental Awareness & Dental Activity Campaigns, 15 Eye checkups to name a few.
They demonstrated how to use brush while brushing the teeth, explained the side effects of neglecting your health. The students actively participated in all the activities for adding value to improvise the health of rural community.
"Our students also collaborated with LOLT in the area of education wherein; our students helped the village children in terms of career counseling, personality development programs, career guidance, and much more. These were under the various LOLT programs such as Anando and Anando Plus. Our students feel proud to enlighten the knowledge of the budding students who can grow and become future leaders. These programs were also carried in the vicinity of Karjat where students were divided into groups," said Vice Chairman of UBS, Tarun Anand.
"Finally, in the area of livelihood also the students left no stones unturned. Our students have conducted awareness camps in the field of skill development like computer training, bike repair training, selling of jewelry, cloth bags, paper bags, to name a few," added Tarun.
He added that students have also identified markets to ensure that the programs are driven in a smooth and efficient manner to identify and harness the potential opportunities.
In a nutshell, UBS & LOLT through its holistic development approach is looking at supporting and strengthening capacities of its beneficiaries to ensure there is a holistic growth of the rural community and thus giving back to the society.
"This exposure will develop the abilities of the students to do diagnosis and find solutions to the Social problems, thus this will prepare them to face business problems in the future which are far less complex. This experiential learning which is one of the pedagogic approached of UBS could be a clear differentiator that UBS'ians will bring to their workplace in the future," said Prof R.Sriram of UBS who is also the program manager for this Social & Sustainability Project.
