The upcoming biopic based on late singer Aaliyah, has been put on hold after the lead actress, Zendaya, pulled out of the project.

Lifetime took to Twitter to announce the news of the film, which was to be an adaptation of the bestselling book Aaliyah: More Than A Woman by former Time magazine music editor Christopher Farley, Deadline.com reported.

The project, which was temporarily titled 'Aaliyah: Princess Of RandB', would follow the life of the 22-year-old RandB star, who was killed in a plane crash as she was returning to the U.S.post recording a music video in the Bahamas.

The project was scheduled to start filming summer 2014.
