Actor Prakash Raj on Sunday said that film actors choosing to become political leaders was a disaster for the country.

"I don't like actors joining politics because they are actors and have fans. They should always stay aware about their responsibility towards them," Raj said, while addressing the media, here.

Prakash Raj also denied the possibility of joining a political party and said, "I am not joining any political party."

The statement comes a few days after veteran actor Kamal Hassan formally announced his decision to enter the political arena.

Speaking on a range of issues, Raj, who himself is very active on the social media, asserted that one should not be vary of the trolls.

"I don't think anyone should stand in cinema hall and show his or her patriotism," Raj further remarked.

Raj also revealed that due to his comments on issues concerning the nation, people have been trying to disrupt his work, whose names he didn't reveal. He, however, added, "I have enough money to eat till my last breath."

The award-winning actor, had, last month, criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his silence on the murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh in Bengaluru.
