Hours after three bookies were arrested with Rs. 40 lakh from Kanpur's Landmark Hotel, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued a statement wherein it has asserted that its Anti Corruption Unit (ACU) had worked closely with various law enforcement agencies to accomplish the task.

"The ACU of the BCCI has been tracking activities of certain individuals, as a result of which, three suspects were arrested in Kanpur, on Thursday.

Following this operation, the Uttar Pradesh Police Crime Branch could successfully foil the alleged betting attempts of the accused. This was an outcome of the ACU of the BCCI, having worked closely with various law enforcement agencies, who will continue further investigations, in this matter," the statement said.

The raid was made collectively by the crime branch and police on the tip-off received by the Board of the BCCI vigilance.

Three bookies namely, Ramesh Shah, Vikas Chauhan and Ramesh were caught along with cash worth Rs. 4,40,000, two mobiles and a diary.

Kanpur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) A. Kulheri said, "We have got some names but they not confirmed. We will question players whose names we have got."

Yesterday, there was a match between Delhi Daredevils and Gujarata Lions at the Green Park Stadium here. The teams were staying at the Landmark Hotel and the bookies were betting from this hotel.
