Delhi is fast becoming an education hub for Afghan students who aspire to seek quality education in India. Delhi's Learning Academy is one such institute which has been imparting both English and computer skills to Afghan students at a very minimal cost.

Located in the capital's Jangpura Extension, the academy has been providing English language and computer skills to some 2,000 Afghan students for the last five years.

Currently, the academy has 100 Afghan students who are seeking training in English language and computer skills.

The ongoing conflict in Afghanistan had forced Omar, a student from Kabul, to come to India in 2008. His parents want him to seek quality education in India and become a Computer Engineer.

"We have education problem in Afghanistan. I am doing 10th from an open school. I joined English classes at Learning Academy to improve my skills. I have improved my English communication skills," said Omar.

Mustafa Kaimi is another student who came to India seeking greener pastures.

"I came here for good education. I think India is a good place for education and now the situation in Afghanistan is not normal for education. In Afghanistan people are suffering from security issues,"

said Kaimi.

"We cannot go back to Afghanistan because there are problems if we had not any problem in Afghanistan we would not have come to India," added Zymud Ilyasi, another student from Afghanistan.

A large number of students who pass out from the academy are working in different sectors in India and Afghanistan.

"I can confidently say that one thousand Afghan people so far are working in different sectors in India or may be in their own country have taken benefit from our programme", said Prawal Mani Tripathi,Director, Learning Academy.
