An Air India air hostess fell off a Mumbai-Delhi flight on Monday morning during boarding process at Mumbai airport.

The incident took place when the flight AI864 was being readied for its scheduled departure around 7 am.

"During boarding the passengers, she went to open the L5 door of the Boeing 777 to allow the step ladder to align with the door. There was a gap and in the process of opening the door, she slipped and fell onto the tarmac," said an Air India official.

She has been admitted to Mumbai's Nanavati hospital.
