American playwright Neil Simon passes away

American playwright and author Neil Simon died at the age of 91 due to complications from pneumonia at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan.

Simon was one of the pioneering playwrights who set a new tone in theatrical comedy with his shows like 'The Odd Couple' and plays like 'Lost in Yonkers', confirmed The Hollywood Reporter.

He was also the only playwright to have four Broadway productions running simultaneously.

Simon earned countless awards including three Tony's, Mark Twain Prize for 'Comedy' in 2006 and Kennedy Center Honors in 1995.
