Bangladesh Industries Minister and Awami League veteran Amir Hossain Amu, who is the party's advisory council member, will represent the country at Trinamool Comgress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee's swearing-in ceremony in Kolkata.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmud Ali confirmed this a press conference today just two days ahead of Mamata taking oath as the West Bengal Chief Minister on May 27,reports Daily Star.
Mamata's invitation was directly placed at the table of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Hasina had to drop the invitation as she had a pre-scheduled five-day official tour to Japan slated to begin tomorrow.
The Prime Minister had earlier in a telephonic conversation congratulated Mamata on her election to the chief minister of West Bengal in May 2011, but she did not call her or send any letter of felicitations to the TMC boss on her second election victory this time.
