Spain's Mireia Lalaguna Royo has claimed this year's Miss World crown after beating out 113 contestants from across the globe in China's Sanya.
The victory of the 23-year-old pharmacy student from Barcelona marked the first-ever win for a Spanish contestant, Channel24 reported.
Sofia Nikitchuk of Russia was the runner-up and Indonesia's Maria Harfanti took third place in the final.
However, the ceremony was not without controversy as last month, the officials in Hong Kong stopped Miss Canada, Chinese-born Anastasia Lin, from boarding a plane bound for Sanya, refusing her a visa.
The first Miss World contest was held 64 years ago in Britain.
