UCPN-Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the annual policy and programme presented by the government for the fiscal year 2016-17 was positive.
Speaking at the Legislature-Parliament meeting today, Dahal said that diversifying international trade was an important issue and improving service sector was also a genuine concern raised by the document, reports The Himalayan Times.
Dahal said that it was necessary to form an effective mechanism regarding the role of public, private and cooperative sectors, accelerating reconstruction task and constructing people's houses.
The UCPN-Maoist chairman stressed the need of bringing a concrete programme regarding land reform.
Stating that the policies and programmes of bringing farmers under the responsibility of social security have added new excitement in farmers, he said that the plan of exploring petroleum products, ending power outage within two years and generating 10,000 MW electricity within 10 years were timely and genuine.
Dahal said that a national consensus government was necessary to resolve all the problems which surfaced in the country, but urged the incumbent government to carry out its works without any doubt.
He also maintained that the government's policy and programme lacked a clear outline regarding the conclusion of peace process.
The UCPN-Maoist chairman said that the elections should be held based on the report of the Local Body Reconstructing Commission after forging a political consensus.
