Communist Part of India (CPI) leader D Raja on Thursday said the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Bill, cannot be passed in a hurry and must be thoroughly scrutinised by a Parliament Committee.

"All the aspects have to be scrutinised carefully. This bill cannot be passed like that in a hurry. It has to be scrutinised by some Parliament Committee thoroughly," Raja told ANI.

"Only then we can bring an effective legislation to prevent corruption and to create adequate mechanism that will disallow corrupt practices to occur," he added.

The proposed amended Bill has been approved by the Union Cabinet and will be up for discussion in Rajya Sabha today.
