Farmers on Wednesday staged a protest against the construction of a power grid at Nandigama Mandal in Krishna district.
The protest was organised against the electricity department for allowing construction of towers in the fields without consulting the farmers.
A number of agitators climbed towers alleging that officers have not paid them due compensation, adding that the power grid construction is underway without their consent.
"The power line construction is going across fields. We have been pleading MLAs, MPs and other officials for the last three years but they all ignored us. The electricity department has forcibly erected the grid. Now, we are protesting against the authorities and we will not let them continue their work until they pay us our compensation," a farmer told ANI.
"We are not against the power grid construction but we want proper compensation," he added.
