Apache Indian has said that though he grew up in the UK, however his parents were from punjab, so he was given an Indian upbringing.

He told FHM Indian magazine that his music is the representation of his culture.

When asked about him growing up in a racially mixed community, and having a lot of stories to share, he said that in the UK, where he stays, there are a lot of people from different countries and communities.

He asserted that there are a lot of Asians, Jamaicans and obviously, whites.

The rapper, whose real name is Steven Kapur, said that when he was a kid, he always faced the struggle to decide whose culture should he follow - the whites in whose country he lives in, the Jamaicans who had a completely tangential culture or that of his parents.

He explained that the atmosphere in the house and outside it was poles apart, and what was right outside his home wouldn't be right inside it.

He added that he often fought with his parents, but when he grew up, he started to respect all sensibilities, including his.
