A safety drill was initiated by the Army for the civilians of Sawjian sector in Poonch on Saturday to help them save their lives during firing from the Pakistani side.
As per the drill, when firing starts in the area, the Army starts a siren which informs the residents that they must take cover.
Mushtaq Ahmed Sheikh, a local resident told ANI, "I was returning from the fields and I heard the siren by the Army. When we heard the siren, we were able to run to save our lives."
In the Sawjian sector, 10 civilians were injured in the last six days while one died after a mortar shell from the Pakistani Army directly hit the residential area.
