A major casualty was averted along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday after an army search party recovered a Pakistani made landmine, containing huge amount of RDX.

"In Sawjian sector, a surveillance party detected a suspected movement in the Line of Control (LoC). When the party was challenged, the party moved back towards the Line of Control (LoC) leaving behind a bag. From this bag, we recovered a Pakistan claymore mine, this is a directional fragmentation mine," Colonel Harpreet Singh told the media.

Giving details about how deadly the landmine was, he said: "The weight of this mine is approximately 1.7 kgs, explosive content is 720 grams RDX. It has 830 pallets fragments which can kill/injure a man up to 50 meter radius."

This incident comes amidst renewed ceasefire violations, wherein the Pakistani forces once again resorted to mortar shelling and firing in Sawjian sector of Poonch.

The Indian side gave a befitting reply to the other side. However, no casualties have been reported so far.
