Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi inaugurated First Women's only University in Jorhat.
The University will include under-graduate as well as post graduate courses.
The classes have started from September 1 in a temporary building. Till now 19 faculty members have been recruited and 55 students have taken admission.
The University also has hostel facilities to accommodate students coming from far flung areas of the region.
