Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) chief Avinash Chander will continue in his capacity as head of the organisation after reaching age of retirement, albeit on a contract basis.
A statement by the Press Information Bureau (Defence Wing) confirmed the same, adding that his appointment will be subject to the same terms and conditions.
"The appointment of Dr. Avinash Chander beyond his date of retirement, that is, November 30, for 18 months would be on contract basis, with the same terms and conditions as he would be entitled to as Department of Defence Research and Development (DRD) secretary before the date of retirement. His contractual term will end on May 31, 2016," the statement read.
Chander turned 64 earlier this month.
