Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev, who was among the nine people invited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' forward, pledged on Thursday to take the mission forward.

"The entire country and I, we will all work towards the mission of a healthy and clean India. I believe in what Prime Minister Modi said that we will not litter and not let others litter, also we will work towards waste management," said Baba Ramdev here in Glasgow.

Earlier in September, reiterating his support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mission of achieving a 'Clean India', the Yoga Guru had exhorted citizens of the country to contribute in their own way to make India cleaner.

He had said that since he will be on a trip to Europe on October 2, his organization would provide full support to the mission.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' at Rajpath today. On the occasion, the Prime Minister also administered a cleanliness pledge to the people. Later, he flagged off a walkathon as part of the campaign.

The Prime Minister also invited eight other people including Sachin Tendulkar, Priyanka Chopra, Anil Ambani, Shashi Tharoor, Baba Ramdev , Salman Khan, Kamal Hassan, Goa Governor Mridula Sinha and the team of soap opera 'Taarak Mehta ka Oolta Chashma' to take the initiative forward.

While Tendulkar and Chopra "humbly" accepted the challenge, Goa Governor Mridula Sinha and the cast and producers of 'Taarak Mehta ka Oolta Chashma' also pledged to promote cleanliness.

'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' includes sweeping, removal of garbage, debris and unauthorised encroachments from roads, markets and residential places and aims at making India a clean country by 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
