Australian cricketer George Bailey has said that as balls flew past England spinner Monty Panesar's head during the Adelaide Test when he was batting against Mitchell Johnson, one thunderbolt even thudding into his helmet, he could not help but offer a helping hand.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Bailey said that Panesar was getting plenty of advice from his partners but he was just trying to get him to get his elbow out of the way, for starters.
He added that it did not look that much fun as Panesar was muttering away to himself to watch the ball, adding that it was not pretty.
Australia's approach towards bowling to the England lower order has been uncompromising, a throwback to the frightening West Indies attacks of years gone by, the report said.
Bailey can tell from his regular fielding position near the bat just how apprehensive England's less capable batsmen are, the report added.
Bailey said that it was an uncomfortable feeling for the lower order and there was no doubt about that.
