Parents of the six-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by her school's skating instructor met Bangalore's new police commissioner M N Reddy to demand greater safety measures and the re-opening of their daughter's school.
Reddy said, "I held a detailed conversation with the parents and the concerns, the issues and the problems that they are facing, we tried to chalk out a way, whereby the basic concerns can be quickly by the management. We would advice that the management to resolve those issues, whether it's to do with safety or security."
"The parents had various demands in terms of safety and need to improve access control. We will try to help the management and school's parents," he added.
The police chief said that the parents were keen for their daughter's school to stay open.
"Parents want the children to come back to school. In the interest of the children who are missing school, the school has to be open. Hopefully in a week or so, the school should open," Reddy said.
An accused has been arrested in Bangalore for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl inside her school premises.
On July 2, two gym instructors had allegedly raped the minor girl inside the premises of Bangalore's Vibgyor School when she had gone to the washroom.
Bangalore has witnessed a slew of protests after the shocking incident came to light. The earlier Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar also faced the heat and was replaced yesterday by Reddy.
