Following Tito Vilanova's decision to step down as Barcelona coach to attend to his cancer relapse, Luis Enrique, who became manager of Celta Vigo six weeks ago, is the favourite to succeed the coach.
According to The Guardian, the former Barcelona B team coach Enrique is among the coaches who have been contacted along with Gerardo Martino, the coach of an Argentinian side.
The report said that Barcelona would be obliged to pay 3 million euros to Enrique to release him from Celta Vigo, while the Catalans hope to announce their new manager in the next few days, without intending to promote anyone from within.
Meanwhile, Martino, who was considered for a Real Sociedad job this summer, is also being contacted.
