Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D. Raja on Thursday said that the condition of Veteran (CPI) leader A.B. Bardhan was still critical and that he was responding to medicines.
"Comrade Bardhan had massive stroke, we rushed him to the hospital. He has been admitted and has been shifted to ICU. According to the doctors his condition continues to be critical. Doctors have told us that his physical movements are such that it gives the impression that he responds to medicines," Raja told ANI.
"The doctors are trying their best, but since he is in I.C.U, we will have to wait and see how he improves," he added.
The 93-year-old leader was found unconscious around 8 a.m. at the CPI headquarters Ajoy Bhavan where he lived.
He was rushed to the G.B. Pant Hospital by CPI colleagues where the hospital authorities said that Bardhan was in critical condition after suffering a paralytic stroke.
