Former Pakistan batsman Basit Ali has claimed that though Pakistan won the match against Zimbabwe, it was not a great performance from the squad.
Pakistan continue with their aspirations for the World Cup as they still remain in the hunt for a quarterfinal spot, having defeated Zimbabwe by 20 runs in their Pool B match played in Brisbane.
However, their win did not come easy as Pakistan won by the skin of their teeth, which has given them hope of qualifying for the knockout stages, The Express Tribune reported.
Ali claimed that it was a really poor batting effort from their players because they got out against some ordinary bowling.
He insisted that good teams look for such matches to get performances going and for regaining confidence but added that their batsmen wasted it.
Ali feels that the team should never have allowed Zimbabwe to get so close. He said that it was really painful to watch Pakistan fight so hard against a team like Zimbabwe.
The former batsman claimed that their calibre is much higher and they should play to their potential and not get bogged down due to the fear of failure.
