The war of words between the two contestants for the Amritsar Parliamentary seat seems unlikely to end, as both Captain Amarinder Singh (Congress) and Arun Jaitley (BJP) are not letting go of any opportunity to take a dig at each other.
Jaitley described his rival as a 'monarch' who promotes fake propaganda and then buys the same himself. He further said that Singh is fond of his own image and believes that he is a monarch in a democracy.
"By avoiding a healthy discourse on political issues, on national agenda, and instead concentrating on the subjects that are of no relevance today and then by use of impolite language, I think some people, because of their feudal mindset, are trying to be a monarch in the democracy," said Jaitley.
Jaitley went on to say that Captain Amarinder Singh's credentials are not exactly inspirational and the standards that he has set in his own life are not an object of envy.
"Notwithstanding all these black-holes, Capt. relies on his feudal instrument that is to be rude, be impolite and talk down to people," he added.
Meanwhile, hitting back at Jaitley, Captain Amarinder Singh said that it was his past and he is proud of his background.
"But now, it has fitted into a system where the people of Punjab love him and don't know who you (Jaitley) are," said Amarinder.
"I do not reject my background and I am proud of my background. To democracy, I have been there for 47 years in the service of the people. Unlike Jaitley, who always makes a backdoor entry, so (Jaitley) don't try to tell me what a monarch is," he added.
