After winning the West Bengal assembly elections with a resounding majority for a second term, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said the state would continue to develop with special emphasis on employment generation and infrastructure.

Thanking the people of the state for accepting her for yet another term, Banerjee said, "Development will continue. Special focus will be on employment generation and infrastructure development."

"This is magic of the people, because at the end of the day, they decide who will rule and who won't," she told ANI.

Ridiculing the Congress, which had joined hands with the Left against the incumbent dispensation, the TMC chief said: "I believed in the Congress' ideology, as I had joined politics with that party. But now, the Congress itself has lost its ideology."

Bengal went through six- phase polling beginning from April 4, in a total of 1,961 candidates, including 198 women, contested.

Ahead of the elections, it was thought that the Left-Congress alliance would pose a tough challenge to the ruling Trinamool Congress.

The Trinamool would organise cultural functions from May 20-30 to thank the 'Maa, Mati, Manush' for their support.
