Biden says fight against IS brought Iraqi leaders together

United States Vice President Joe Biden has said that the fight against the militant group Islamic State (IS) brought Iraqi leaders together.

According to News24, Biden, in an address to the National Defence University, gave an upbeat assessment of Iraq's progress against the Sunni group.

Biden said that there was still a long fight ahead against IS militants.

He praised Iraqi leaders from Sunni, Shi'ite and Kurdish groups for pulling together to form an inclusive government.

Biden claimed that Iraqi forces had made significant gains with the help of US led coalition airstrikes.
