Bill Cosby has resigned from the Temple University Board of Trustees as the sexual assault case he settled in 2006 was filed by a Temple employee, it has been revealed.

The 77-year-old actor asserted that he had always been proud of the university and its students and as a result, he had tendered his resignation, TMZ.com reported.

Andrea Constand, who worked for the women's basketball team at the university filed the suit against Cosby in 2004, claiming that the comedian had drugged and sexually assaulted her.

Cosby attended the school in the '60s and played football as well as running track.
