A controversy erupted on Tuesday over the twitter handle of outgoing Prime Minister being renamed as Dr Manmohan Singh @PMOIndiaArchive.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi lambasted the Prime Minister Office (PMO) over tampering of the twitter handle.
"What else happened with the PM account @PMO is disgraceful unethical and illegal. The account should have been archived correctly as that account is an asset of the nation. It's a national asset and that national asset should have been handed over in the correct format to the new government and the PMO," said Lekhi.
BJP leaders also said that the outgoing team PMOffice had wrongly renamed Twitter handle of @PMOIndia against laws and accepted global norms of handover of digital assets.
The twitter account was previously named as @PMO India.
