Janata Dal (United) leader Ali Anwar on Friday criticised Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on his comments on secularism in the Lok Sabha yesterday, adding that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh(RSS) are pseudo nationalist.

"The people of BJP and RSS are pseudo nationalist. They hate the word secularism right from the beginning. What is the meaning for secularism? Secularism means that everybody believes in their religion and there is no interference of the government. This is the main principle of our constitution," Anwar told ANI here.

"So if the word Secularism and Socialism was included by 42nd amendment, so what is wrong in that? That fact is that they are hurting the unity and diversity of the country," Anwar added.

Rajnath Singh on Thursday said that 'secular' is the most misused word in the Indian politics.

Singh, who was addressing the Lok Sabha, also said the principle architect of the Constitution, B.R. Ambedkar didn't find it necessary to insert the word along with 'socialist' in the Preamble because he felt that it was already in the basic nature of the people.
