Asserting that the people are disheartened with the misrule of the last one year, Congress leader Ashwani Kumar on Sunday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA Government at the Centre should consider the 'Maha Kisan Rally' as a wake-up call.
"The Bharatiya Janata Party should regard this rally as a wake-up call. People are disheartened with the misrule of last one year. Our intentions and policies are clean," he said.
Earlier in the day, Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad demanded an apology from Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi as the latter alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had won the 2014 Lok Sabha elections with the help of money provided to him by the industrialists.
"How many times will Rahul Gandhi be launched and re-launched? What is Vadra Model of Land Acquisition? Why do not Rahul and Sonia Gandhi tell us this?" Prasad asked.
"How did the PM insult the nation in Toronto? Did 2G scam, coal scam not happen during the Congress regime?"he added.
The Congress vice-president today accused the Centre of being anti-farmer and said farmers and workers in the country are worried as they feel that the government has forgotten them.
Addressing the farmers' rally organised by the party at Ramlila Ground in the national capital, Gandhi said the farmers strengthen the nation before industrialists as they feed the nation.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi also came down heavily on the government, saying relief announced by it for farmers affected by hailstorm and untimely rain is worthless.
