Bharatiya Janata Party vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Friday expressed confidence that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will win the 2014 election and provide a stable government at the centre.
"BJP and NDA will win with majority and form its government; we have given NDA the popularity and stability. We have given NDA at a time when people had no faith in the UPA Government," Naqvi said.
"We are satisfied that our prime ministerial candidate has relentlessly given the message of good governance of people. We started our election campaign with the oath of development and good governance," Naqvi added.
He praised the people of the nation for participating in the election process in large numbers.
"The owner of the democracy of the nation is the public. We salute the people of the nation who participated in this democratic process," he said.
Counting of votes to elect representatives to the 16th Lok Sabha and four State Assemblies-Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim-began at 8 a.m. this morning amid tight security.
The exit polls have projected that the BJP and its allies would touch the half-way mark in the 543-member Lok Sabha. Most polls show the incumbent UPA regime getting between 101 and 148 seats.
