Indian tennis ace Rohan Bopanna and his Romanian partner Florin Mergea recovered from a set down as they progressed through to the quarterfinals of the US Open men's doubles event at Flushing Meadows.
The sixth seed Indo-Romanian duo smashed 10 aces and 49 winners to claim a 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-3 win over the Canadian-French pair of Daniel Nestor and Edouard Roger-Vasselin in two hours and six minutes.
Bopanna and Mergea, who are aiming for their maiden Grand Slam title, will next take on the unseeded team of Dominic Inglot and Robert Lindstedt in the quarters.
