Trading at the 30-share Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange closed today 424.06 points up to stand at 25,317.87.
At the National Stock Exchange, Nifty closed 129.45 points up to stand at 7,688.25.
JSW Energy Ltd, Tata Elxsi Ltd.,Crompton Greaves Ltd and NCC Limited were among the top gainers of Group A, registering increases of 10.18, 9.29, 8.12 and 7.97 percent respectively.
Top losers of Group A were Amtek Auto Ltd, Sunrise Asian Limited, Page Industries Ltd. and PMC Fincorp Limited with decreases of 6.01, 4.99, 4.75 and 4.68 percent at the close of the markets.
The auto sector ended up 290.14 points at 17,076.86, while the banking sector was up 651.94 points to end at 18,702.29.
The realty sector was up 32.08 points to end at 1,252.70.
The Indian currency, however, was down at 0.29 percent to end at Rs. 66.63 to the U.S. dollar.
