British racer Jenson Button hopes that the decision on his Formula One future with McLaren would be made sooner than later as the team's board failed to reach a consensus regarding Spaniard Fernando Alonso's partner in their 2015 driver line up.
Fernando Alonso would join from Ferrari, and McLaren has to choose between Button and teammate Kevin Magnussen. Button, who finished fifth in the showdown in Abu Dhabi, which might potentially be his final Grand Prix, said that he hopes McLaren would make a decision very soon for Magnussen and for his sake.
A McLaren spokesman, after the board meeting, said no decision regarding next year's driver lineup has been taken as of yet, Stuff.co.nz reported.
The 2009 World Champion believes that if McLaren retains him, it would be an exciting challenge to experience the new engine and the new atmosphere within the team. However, he said that if he fails to secure a place, then he would be participating in other exciting challenges.
